Entry #9. Media Synthesize
Having many conversations this past month about media has made me question many things about it. People trust information found on the internet, but most of the time, it's false information. I have also started thinking about how people are seriously addicted to their phones, including me. Everyone has gotten used to constant scrolling, especially with new apps like TikTok or Instagram, which has made us develop a smaller attention span.
When I first thought about my topic for this last essay, my mind first went to how technology, both mentally and physically, affects us. Many people believe that social media specifically has made us more worried about our appearances than we have ever before. As children get their hands on technology early in life, their development is affected. They seem to lack social skills and lose the ability to focus quickly. As much as this seems to happen to kids as they develop, it also happens to adults and should be acknowledged. People also believe that in the long run, our bodies are physically going to be affected by the amount of media we are consuming. It is said that our backs will slowly hunch over time since we always lean over while looking at our phones or laptops. As much as technology and media negatively affect society, they are also very helpful in our day-to-day lives. With technology, we have made so many discoveries and created devices to help those who need it.
It's not about completely cutting off the devices you use, but it's more about having limits. Yes, technology is a powerful tool that can hurt people both physically and mentally, but when it is used in the right way, it can be extremely helpful. If you have thought about taking a break or putting a limit on your screen time, I highly encourage it because it makes a big difference to your overall health.

You bring up many great points on how technology, more specifically social media has cause many issues for us as a society. It is polluting the minds of our youths, with short attention spans and the amount of false information out there. I also bring up these points in my Final essay about the dangers of TikTok and how it rots the mind. Thankfully many people like us, are agreeing that technology should be limited.
